LUBBOCK, Texas — On Tuesday, United Supermarkets delivered flower bouquets to school nurses and cookies to teachers across Lubbock County in honor of School Nurse Appreciation Day and Teacher Appreciation Week.
Annually observed in the early part of May, these two holidays remind everyone to recognize two professions that don’t always get the recognition they deserve. School nurses and teachers make vital contributions to the community by impacting thousands of children’s lives every day.
“First and foremost, I want to say a sincere thank you to all of our educators and school nurses for the job they do each day,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family. “Day after day, teachers and school nurses make countless contributions to the lives of students in our community. We hope our gifts of flowers and cookies will be a small reminder of the gratitude we have for all that they do.”
School districts participating include: Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Frenship ISD, Roosevelt ISD, Slaton ISD, Abernathy ISD, New Deal ISD, Shallowater ISD, and Idalou ISD.
