The United Family Joins With NBA Player Jarrett Culver to Launch Fundraiser at Market Street Locations Across DFW to Benefit Local Food Banks

FRISCO, Texas — On Wednesday, January 27, the United Family launched a fundraising campaign for local food banks in all of its Market Street grocery store locations in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as well as Brownwood.

Benefiting the North Dallas Food Bank, the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Good Samaritan Ministries Food Pantry, guests in these areas will have the opportunity to add any dollar amount to the end of their grocery bill at checkout. The fundraiser will run from January 27 to February 7.

“As our communities continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19, we know food banks need all of the help they can get,” said Robert Bollinger, regional vice president for the United Family. “I invite our guests to give what they can for this cause. All of the proceeds will stay in our communities and help our neighbors.”

Jarrett Culver, a former Texas Tech basketball star and current Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard, has partnered with the Texas-based grocery chain to promote the fundraiser. Guests of Market Street will find cardboard cutouts in stores across the area encouraging them to donate and stop for a selfie.

Guests who take a selfie with the Culver cutout and tag @shopmarketstreet will be entered to win one of several prizes including a signed Jarrett Culver basketball or a $100 Market Street gift card.

“Texas is my home and where my heart is. When I heard about this project with Market Street, the Tarrant Area Food Bank and North Texas Food Bank, I had to get involved,” Culver said. “Our communities are struggling right now, and one of the biggest needs and challenges is food insecurity. People are wondering where they are going to get the next meal to feed their families. These food banks serve over 150 million meals annually, and that number is only going to grow as the Pandemic continues to create hardships. Let’s all come together and support each other, $1 can provide 3 meals, so a small gesture can make a big difference.”
